My 100 Portraits for 2016 Project is moving along at a steady pace, I have had the chance to meet so many generous people who have afforded me their time and ‘good looks’ to take their portrait. My sessions usually take around 20 minutes per person and my camera is always firing away….I only choose ‘one’ favorite portrait from the many I take….that’s the one that gets printed at 16” x20”, framed and shown to the world….but this still leaves me with so many great portraits, many unposed and relaxed……the ‘in-between-shots’ is what I like to call them….some of these more candid photo are my favorites….kind of the ones that just missed the final cut, but non the less still terrific portraits in their own right.
This year long project has taught me so much about my photography, it’s not so much the technical aspect, the lighting the editing, but searching more for the expression and personality that prevails through the lens and final on the printed portrait.
Having my very nervous model sit and feel instantly at ease has been a learning curve…but thankfully, so many terrific people, friends, co-workers and family have made it so much easier to handle….thank you all so much, you’ve made my life so much less stressful
